Department for Communities and Local Government - Approved Document F - Means of Ventilation
The 2006 edition replaces the 1995 one. The main changes are:
- A mainly performance based approach has been adopted, the provision has been designed to ventilate buildings having air permeability down to 3 m³/h/m² at 50 Pa
- Ventilators area are now described in terms of equivalent area instead of free area
- More guidance has been given for domestic mechanical and natural ventilation systems
- It would be good practice to fit replacement windows with trickle ventilators
- Appendices give guidance on Passive Stack Ventilation design and installation and good practice on the installation of fans in dwellings
